🌱 The Superfood at the Heart of Simply Lentils

Having lived in Australia for over a decade, I’ve rarely seen lentils or pulses on Aussie plates—not because Australia doesn’t grow them, but because they’ve never been a key part of the local culinary culture. 🤔
Coming from India, home to the world's largest vegetarian population 🌏🥗, I grew up eating lentils every single day—sometimes in multiple meals! An Aussie friend once joked, “I bet if you cut your vein, you’d bleed dhal!” To which I laughed and said, “YESSS, ABSOLUTELY!” 😂
But in India, lentils aren’t just dhal. Pulses are the primary protein source for millions 💪🌿, rich or poor. They appear in everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner 🍛 to snacks and even desserts! 🍩 So, when I discovered that Australia is a major producer of pulses—yet exports most of them (primarily to India!)—it was an eye-opening moment. 👀
Today, more people are embracing plant-based eating 🌱, but pulses still remain underutilized. While the fake meat industry is booming 🍔➡️🥦, many plant-based alternatives are highly processed. We wanted to offer something different—real, natural, and unprocessed. We wanted to celebrate pulses in their true form, without imitating meat.
When we say lentils, we mean pulses in general, or “daal” as we call it in India.
