Happy 1st Birthday to Simply Lentils! 🎉
On October 7th, 2020, Freedom and Purpose Pty Ltd T/A Simply Lentils was officially registered as a company. Today, we celebrate one year of growth, innovation, and purpose-driven action.
To mark this special milestone, we chose to give back to the community that shaped our founder’s roots. We proudly supported ASHA (Association for Social and Human Awareness), a nonprofit organization based in Ranchi, India—Manjula’s birthplace.
About ASHA 
Founded in 2000 and registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882, ASHA serves as a catalyst for change, addressing social evils while empowering marginalized communities through:
- Women empowerment initiatives
- Education and health programs
- Livelihood improvement for vulnerable families
Our Contribution
We are thrilled to announce that we raised $1,000 AUD (₹54,906 INR) for ASHA! This donation supports their impactful initiatives, including:
1️⃣ Combating Trafficking & Unsafe Migration
- ASHA’s Sakhi Saheli Group unites 4,000 adolescent tribal girls, empowering them to fight against trafficking, unsafe migration, and exploitation.
- They also nurture talent through initiatives like a girls’ football team that has won multiple local tournaments!
2️⃣ Fighting Child Marriage
- ASHA has rescued over 150 girls from child marriages in the tribal belt of Jharkhand.
- Their shelter homes provide a safe space to nurture these girls’ potential and channelize it in a positive direction.
Recognition
ASHA’s incredible work earned them the Martha Farrell Award for Best Organization for Gender Equality in 2020.
